Address Validation, Enrichment, and Geocoding

Q: I have address data quality issues. I want to determine the current state of my address quality and to improve it. Can Semarchy xDM help?

A: Yes.

Here are the main points to have in mind.

  • Semarchy is not a data provider. Semarchy xDM has a plug-in architecture to make it easy to use data from relevant data providers.
  • Talk with the Semarchy Customer Success team. We'll be happy to provide some guidance from our experience. For example, US customers have been generally happy with both Melissa Data and Google. But we won't have any definitive comparisons between data providers.
  • The list of available plug-ins is here: Plug-ins Reference Guide
  • Building a new plug-in is not a large project. It's documented in the Plug-in Development Guide. So you can certainly work with data from any provider that you select, even if xDM does not ship with that plug-in out of the box.
  • Google provides free access for a limited number of queries, so it's common to use the /wiki/spaces/PRE/pages/6389777 while evaluating Semarchy xDM.

Once the data is loaded into xDM, you can generate reports to understand the overall quality of your data. Here we see 73% good address, 19% bad, and the rest somewhere in between:
