Authoring in Matched Entities
Customers expect in either Fuzzy Matched or ID Matched entities that their Golden records authored in the application will match with incoming records.
We often get asked by clients when they create records through the UI, why they are unable to do duplicate management operations on them.
Explanation
With Matched entities (Fuzzy and ID Matched) there are two types of Golden Records: Master Based and Data Entry Based.
Master Based Golden records are consolidated from publishers’ master records.
Data Entry Based Golden records are created directly in the application.
Data Entry Based Golden records do NOT have associated master records. They exist only in the hub and do not exist for any publisher.
Master records are required for matching and consolidation. So that’s why your records weren’t available for merging.
Therefore you need a different approach: authoring on behalf of publishers.
Creating Master records on behalf of publishers
To do this, go to the Action Set for your entity
Put in a new Create Action. (This is because your existing Create action is for your Golden Records)
In the Action Configuration finger Tab, choose ‘Master Records’ for the Created Record Type
Choose a Default Publisher or leave blank (This is the publisher on behalf of which the master records are created by default)
Optionally, check ‘Support Multiple Creation’
Optionally, check ‘Allow Other Publishers’ (This allows the user to select the publisher on behalf of which records are created)
See screenshot below:
Then you need to create a view on the Master Records to see this configuration:
In the Application ‘Folder and Actions’. add an Action, give it a name such as BrowseCustomerMaster
Select the appropriate Business View, ensure the View Type is set to ‘Master Data’
Use a Custom Label to ensure that this is clearly labelled as such. For example, ‘Customer (Master Records)’
See screenshot below:
In your application, you’ll be able to create master records from the Master Records view.
When you go to the Golden Records view, you’ll then be able to perform duplicate management actions.
Notes
Note that the 'on behalf of publisher' only works with the first level of the stepper. Second level collection steps on child entities are not available.
